The terrain can best be described as wooded sandveld savannah with patches of Mopani and acacia veld. These are areas that consist of dense brush where species like Suni and Nyala occur. This diversity of habitat accommodates a large variety of species ranging from elephant and predators to pigmy antelopes like Sharpe’s Grysbuck. The average elevation is approximately 380m above sea level.
Is Malaria a risk in the area?
When hunting in winter, mosquitos are not prevalent. Malaria preventatives are a personal choice.
Do I need a permit to transport rifles through South Africa en-route to Mozambique?
When traveling through South Africa en-route to Mozambique with firearms, you will require a SAPS 520 temporary import/export firearms permit. This can be obtained upon arrival at OR Tambo International, Johannesburg or can be obtained prior to arrival from a clearing agent. We highly recommend pre-issued permits.
Does the camp have electricity?
Yes, we have electricity. It is supplied by a solar-powered system and converted to 220V. There are charging points in each chalet for charging your general electronic devices.
Does the camp have Wifi?
Yes, we have Wifi.
How are my trophies exported from Mozambique?
Once the hunting season has been concluded at the end of November, Mutemba Safaris will get all the required documents in order to transport the trophies from hunting camp to Matola, near Maputu in Mozambique. The clearing agent will then obtain further required documentation in order to transport the trophies to South Africa (the trophies cannot go directly out of Mozambique, as Mozambique does not have approved trophy treatment facilities). Once in South Africa, you will have the option of having your taxidermy done or having the raw trophies shipped to a taxidermist of your choice.
